We discuss the procedure with you in as much or as little detail as you are comfortable with. We carefully assess your general health, including your blood pressure and oxygen levels, to ensure safe treatment.

The level of sedation is tailored to your individual requirements and administered via a soft plastic tube inserted into a vein in the back of your hand or small mask over your nose and mouth. It doesn’t take long to take effect and we monitor you closely throughout your treatment. Once you are suitably relaxed, we administer any other necessary medication, including local anaesthetic for pain relief.

The effects of sedation will take a while to wear off, so you will need someone to take you home and keep an eye on you after your treatment.

Types of sedation at S10 Dental
Intravenous (IV) sedation is delivered directly into your bloodstream in a controlled manner, quickly inducing a state of deep relaxation. You remain conscious throughout, and able to communicate with your dentist, but with your worries eliminated, so you are much more willing to undergo treatment. Many people don’t even remember their treatment once the effects of the sedation have worn off!
Inhalation sedation is a great option for people who don’t like needles. A small mask is placed over your mouth and nose, allowing you to breathe in a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen that makes you feel calm and relaxed. You remain awake and aware while receiving the sedation, but you will experience a deep sensation of peace while the team works on your teeth.
