What does the treatment involve?

  1. 1

We first make sure that the teeth that will support the bridge are healthy and strong. They are then prepared by removing a layer of enamel.

  2. 2

We take impressions of the prepared teeth. These are sent to the dental laboratory. While your bridge is custom-made, we provide you with a temporary bridge to protect the exposed teeth.

  3. 3

When ready, we check your bridge, making sure it fits perfectly and making small adjustments if necessary. Your bridge is finally fixed in place with strong dental cement.

Conventional and Maryland bridges

Types of bridges at S10 Dental

Conventional bridges are popular solutions for filling gaps left by missing teeth. They work by using the natural teeth on either side of the gap as support, with the replacement tooth acting as a bridge between these two abutments to restore your full smile.

Adhesive bridges, also known as Maryland bridges, offer a less invasive alternative. They are made with metal or ceramic wings that are carefully bonded to the back of neighbouring teeth to hold the false tooth firmly in place. They require very little, if any, preparation of the surrounding natural teeth.

Frequently asked questions

Bridges are typically made with a precious metal base, giving a solid structure and making them hard-wearing and long-lasting. If you need a bridge in your smile line, porcelain is usually added to the base to make it look beautifully natural.
