Chewing Gum Can Detect Inflammation

teeth health dentist smileA chewing gum has been developed in Germany that can detect inflammation following dental implant surgery. The gum reacts to bacteria and releases a bitter-tasting agent that will alert the patient to the problem which can then be related to the dentist. Even years after dental implant surgery problems can still arise such as:

– Inflammation of the gums

– Build-up of harmful bacteria

– Possible bone loss under the affected teeth

According to the inventors “anyone can use this new diagnostic tool anywhere and anytime” and the gum should be available inside two or three years.
