A new oral health study has found an interesting connection between hormone replacement therapy and common dental conditions, like gum disease, inflammation, and loose teeth.
Key takeaways:
– Menopausal women are at increased risk of developing gum disease, as this condition can be the result of lower estrogen levels
– The study found that women who were on a hormone replacement treatment were less likely to suffer from gum disease and other related conditions, such as swollen gums, discomfort along the jaw bone, dry mouth, and loose teeth
– Hormone replacement therapy also helped relieve the symptoms of gum disease in 44 per cent of women affected by this condition
Keeping up your dental care routine, avoiding sugary food and drinks, and making regular visits to your dentist can also keep gum disease at bay and help you enjoy a healthier smile.
